To those unfamiliar with the history of Fiorano Modenese, let’s say that it is necessary to go back about seven thousand thousand years, in the area between Fiorano and Sassuolo where the first permanent inhabitants of the Modena area settled in that period.
Various ceramic artefacts decorated in ceramics that were produced in the Neolithic villages are on display at the Museum of Ceramics, with exhibits that testify the first technological steps towards the current industrial district of the tile.
Since 1960, Fiorano Modenese has become an industrial center of international importance, which together with the neighboring municipalities forms the Ceramics District, a leader in the production of ceramic tiles for building and urban planning.
In 1972, at the behest of Enzo Ferrari, a test track was built in Fiorano.
The track is still perhaps the most famous in the world today and is used for Ferrari racing and grand touring cars, for training for mechanics and the sports team, for testing and training for drivers.
The track is owned by Scuderia Ferrari and it is possible to visit it thanks to tours managed by the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.
Every year in the period, between the end of August and the beginning of September, there is the traditional appointment with the amateur gathering for vintage cars, which always includes a tourist itinerary in the area.
